The guide-less space industry… Staying afloat is more of a challenge than technology development

“It is very encouraging that our government is actively pursuing aerospace policy. However, here in Korea, there are still no regulations, let alone standards or guidelines, for sending people into space. Until guidelines are established, the biggest challenge for startups like ours is simply surviving.”

‘Space taxi’ business Woona Stella CEO Park Jae-hong said in an interview at the company’s office in Nogosan-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 24th: “For a startup, the most difficult issue to overcome is not developing crewed space technology itself, but establishing guidelines. With guidelines in place, we can build launch vehicles and provide services accordingly. In the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already set out all the guidelines that companies must follow when taking people into space.” He began by expressing concerns about survival.
